Compilation of the library as Linux SO or Windows DLL.

- ASM files modified to specify symbol types and their scope
- library makefile modified to comile the library as an SO or DLL
- sample applications' makefiles modified to link against both
  shared and static library versions
- Some C files modified to specify symbol scope
- All three makefiles extended with 'style' target for running check
  against coding style
